Enjoying Bermuda Island For The First Time

Bermuda is literally the best place to jet off to with your pals. Whether you’ve never considered visiting Bermuda before -- or you’ve been dreaming about exploring this gorgeous country forever – you definitely won’t be disappointed when you and your friends make it your next vacation destination!

Very few places in the world have as much to offer to you and your girlfriends quite like Bermuda. This British island territory, nestled away in the heart of the North Atlantic Ocean, manages to pack a surprisingly large number of things to do in such a relatively small area. From stunning pink-sand beaches to an incredible sub-tropical climate, Bermuda is a seriously amazing place to visit. Not only does it have a fascinating and diverse history (ranging all the way back to its first official settlers in 1612), it’s also one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. If you’re looking for the perfect retreat for yourself and your besties, then you definitely need to take a closer peek at all that Bermuda has to offer you!

1. Sneak off to Horseshoe Bay

If you came to Bermuda for its warm beaches and inviting waters, then you’ll want to make sure you stop into Horseshoe Bay while you’re there. Horseshoe Bay’s lined with pristine stretches of blush-colored sand and crystal-clear sparkling azure waters. As arguably the world’s most beautiful beach, this bay sees scores of travelers each year. Just make sure you bring plenty of sunblock with you. Oh, and don’t forget to pack a picnic lunch. After all, soaking up the sun can be hungry work!

2. Get caught up in the energy of Hamilton

You may be surprised to learn that Bermuda is more than just gorgeous beaches and warm waters. Take Hamilton, for example. This bustling metropolis located in the epicenter of Bermuda proves that the country has a thriving urban center and an active nightlife, too. This city manages to merge the best of local charm with historic appeal, as many of the buildings are in the traditional gothic style of architecture. Oh, and make sure you remember your dancing shoes, because you’re going to want to dance the night away when you pop into Hamilton!

3. Slip beneath the surface at Crystal & Fantasy Caves

The Crystal & Fantasy Caves were made for those of you who love the serenity and the dazzling views of this majestic subterranean wonder. You’ll find deep limestone pools wholly submerged in seawater with stalagmites jutting just above their surface, and you’ll see quartz-studded stalactites clinging onto the ceilings of this vast cave system. While we’ll be the first to admit that this adventure is probably not for the claustrophobic, if you’re feeling brave, then you and your gal pals will love everything about this 30-million-year-old natural cave formation.

4. Marvel at the architecture at the Unfinished Church

Way back in the middle of the 1800s, a bunch of architects got together and decided that they were going to build a church to replace the damaged one that was formerly at the site. This church, which was going to be the new Church of Saint Peter, was an ambitious and optimistic job. Unfortunately, paperwork, disagreements, and financial issues quickly put a stop to its construction. Instead, this site now remains as a testament to the unfulfilled goals of the local construction workers. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t spend a few hours meandering along with the unfinished stone structure. Even though it remains incomplete, it’s still a hauntingly beautiful and strangely ethereal structure.

5. Take a stroll along the Railway Trail

If you get tired of relaxing on the beach (as unlikely as that may be!), then perhaps you’ll want to lace up your hiking shoes and take a leisurely walk along the Railway Trail. Make sure you grab a map from the visitor’s center found in Hamilton and bring some extra water. Sure, a hike sounds suspiciously like exercise, but you won’t be worrying about all of that when you see the sights from this hidden route. It’s a little bit off the beaten path, but it offers unbelievably dazzling views of the natural wildlife and the turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean. You seriously don’t want to miss out on it!
