Whether you’ve heard of Mexico City before or this is your first time encountering this capital city of Mexico, you’re going to love everything about this thriving urban metropolis!
1. Mexico City? More like Museum City!

One of the most remarkable things about Mexico City isn’t just its friendly locals and amazing food. (Of course, those are both totally major draws of the area, to be fair.) No, it’s the fact that Mexico City has literally more museums than any other city in the entire world. Are you a fan of art museums? Mexico City has got ‘em. More into history museums? Look no further! When we say that Mexico City has a museum for any interest that you may have, we’re not kidding. There are over 150 museums here, which means that you will not get bored.
If you’re a fan of art, why not pop into the Palacio de Bellas Artes? Built way back during the turn of the 20th Century, this museum is home to works from prolific artists such as Diego Rivera and David Alfaro. If modern art is more your jam, you’ll want to spend an afternoon in the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC). Finally, the Museo de Arte Moderno has masterpieces from Frida Kahlo, Leonora Carrington, and Remedios Varo. You’ll feel the awe and wonder of these extraordinary pieces as you stroll from display to display.
2. Get a room at the Gran Hotel Ciudad de México

Okay, first things first: you don’t actually have to book a stay at the Gran Hotel Ciudad de México, but let us ask you this. Why not? This stunning hotel isn’t just a lush and inviting place to lay your head at night. It’s also a slice of Mexico City’s history. It features a breathtakingly gorgeous stained-glass ceiling, which came all the way from France back in 1908. It also has maintained much of its vintage charm, with a real-deal iron and concrete elevator to help take you to your floor. Finally, you need to spend a moment admiring its swooping staircase, a nod to its original department-store roots. Yep. Even if you don’t sleep there, promise us you’ll at least visit it, okay?
3. Mexico City has arguably the best food in the world

When you think of Mexican food, what comes to mind? Burritos, tacos, and tamales? If you’ve been limiting yourself to these three staples, then you’ve been depriving yourself of some of the most scrumptious food known to humankind. Mexico City isn’t just a massive city in the heart of Mexico. It’s also a melting pot of local culture, which means that there’s so much more to the fare there than what you’d find back home. Try the fresh seafood at Contramar, or experience authentic molecular gastronomy at Pujol. One thing’s for certain, though: you definitely won’t go hungry in Mexico City, and you absolutely won’t be breaking the bank to get to experience fine dining, either!
4. People watching, genuine culture, and local flavor (oh my!)

What makes Mexico City so fantastic is that this city truly has something for everyone. Depending on what you’re looking for, you’re going to find what you seek here in this bustling city. If you get bored of checking out the museums located here (not likely!), why not get your shop on downtown? Or you can sit back, grab a drink, and people watch. Heck, you’re on vacation with your besties – the sky’s the limit.
