If you’re looking into H&K's stock price or thinking about buying some shares, there are some things to consider. Here’s what I think you should know.

My first exposure to H&K was obviously the MP5 in almost every movie from junior high and high school. Later in life, I worked at a gun store and the owner was an H&K gun nut, and - to my benefit - there were a lot of MP5s in stock. That is, until we hit the middle of the year and all the guns and ammo dried up. If you know recent gun history, you see the time frame I am talking about.
My Personal Connection to Heckler & Koch

I have to start off by stating how fantastic the shooting experience is. At times, it will make me second-guess what caliber I am shooting.
The H&K that I have the most experience with is the USP handgun line. I have never held another handgun that had this level of comfort, and what feels like a custom build or formed grip. The first one I ever shot was in 45 ACP, and the way this gun is built, the recoil felt very much like a 9mm. The ergonomics H&K built into the grip are excellent and, to this day, have rarely been matched in my experience.
Although I’m a typical all-American guy, I have to admit that the German engineering is obvious when this gun is taken down and examined. The parts are machined to higher tolerances and polished to a close machine-honed surface. To the naked eye, I have never put a caliper inside the slide to measure, but I can tell everyone that a brand new, never-oiled gun will not pull cotton off of a Q-tip on any surface.
What Heckler & Koch Is Known For

Let me give you a little background for a minute here. H&K was established in 1949 in Oberndorf am Neckar, Germany, by a group of geniuses: Edmund Heckler, Theodor Kock, and Alex Seidel, formerly of Mauser-Werke. The original brilliance of H&K engineering was the G3 battle rifle, which was created in collaboration with a Spanish manufacturer. It was used by the Bundeswehr until the late 1990s, and then gradually replaced by H&K’s G36.
Throughout the years, H&K has put firearms in police and military service around the world. One of the most popular CCW offerings here in Utah is the H&K VP9. I spent a lot of time with this offering at Range Day at Shotshow 2025 in Vegas, and I was very impressed. Many reviews on this small pistol love its compact nature and easy shooting ergonomics.

But obviously, everyone in the gun world wants an MP5. One day, I will get the kit and build one from scratch. I plan to bend the receiver myself. The MP5 shooting experience I had was from the shooting range and the rental counter. It's a great way to spend over a hundred dollars on ammo in about ten minutes, and if you can afford it, it's something you should do at least once.
How My Clients View H&K Products

H&K guns are perceived as the highest quality, but also expensive, and both of those notes are correct. To this day, I have never had a client hold the H&K pistol and not remark on the feel in their hand for comfort. The way the pistol is engineered, the balance is perfect; my clients would probably go so far as to say ‘perfectly balanced’.

Most handguns are front-heavy; that is just the way it is, unless the grip is put right in the middle of the frame, and I have never seen that before. The balance has to be the grip design, the frame to slide fit, and the barrel alignment to the shooter's hand.
A Gun Owner's Look at H&K as an Investment

H&K is heavily contracted to police and military agencies worldwide, both domestically and globally, and is considered a solid and dependable investment. However, no stock is a sure thing. Like other stocks in the field, H&K sure had its dips. But it’s a company I believe in and trust. It’s completely aligned with my vision of what a firearms company is supposed to be, down to the last line.
The first-rate engineering and machining, the good-guys-only mentality, and the drive to make the best product on the market – all speak to my very core. So by owning shares in this company, I feel I have a part of their global progress and success. I don’t just own a fantastic firearm; I own a piece of the company. The bottom line is, if you’re thinking about investing in the firearms world, Heckler & Koch is worth exploring.
