I’m a freelance travel writer, meaning traveling is my job. I’m always in another city for work. Because I travel so much, I usually only get two years per set of bags, and honestly, even the expensive ones aren’t that great when it comes to durability. I know this is just a consequence of my job, so I try not to get frustrated when the wheels jam up or the zippers fall off. I decided to give Coolife luggage a go, and honestly, I love it. It’s been six months with this set, and it’s not just holding up okay, it’s actually better than okay. It’s good. And that’s saying a lot coming from a professional traveler like me.

PRICE COMPARISON:

I’m well aware that some name brand luggage can climb into the thousands, and I just refused to send that much on bags from a department store when I could get cheaper, and equally nice options elsewhere. This luggage set from Coolife was a third of the price for the pieces I saw in department stores!

CHECKED BAG CONCERNS:

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that luggage beneath an airplane is going to be jammed in there, so I had some concerns if this luggage set would do well on an international flight piled with other suitcases. Not only that, but my flight had a layover, meaning the bags were going to roughed up even more.

POST FLIGHT CONDITION:

I’m sure you’ve seen those airplane workers who toss luggage into the air without a care in the world. When I finally arrived, I was a little antsy to see how my luggage had handled the trip. To my surprise, they did better than I expected! Now I take these pieces on all my trips. So far they’ve done three round trip flights with layovers, a few road trips, and one super long road trip almost two thousand miles during a move.

DESIGN:

I really love them! They roll so smoothly on hard floors, gravel, even parking lots. Not only that but it’s super easy for two people to roll three bags, and since you can attach a duffel on top, it makes it even easier. I love the pop of bright color - my old bags used to be hard to tell apart in the carousel at the airport. Not only that, but it’s really easy to carry and I can get it in and out of my car without much effort.

PROS:

• Considering how light it is, it’s surprisingly durable.

• It came with a lock, but I didn’t need to use it, still it was a nice plus.

• It has inside zippers that allow me to store important documents.

• All three pieces fit together so you can store them without taking up too much space.

• The wheels are connected to the case in a way that I don’t see them failing like my last bags.

• I also love how sturdy the expandable handles feel.

• There’s a pattern on the outside that helps with impacts, making it scratch resistant.

MINOR CON:

The only qualm I have? The hinge is a little wobbly, and I wonder if it would collapse under too much pressure. Yet here I am, and it’s still standing! I just have to be a little gentle with it, but it’s really not a big deal. Honestly, this just makes all the pain of traveling that much easier.

I’m always hesitant and buying stuff on the cheaper side, but let me tell you, for this price, they are so worth it! It’s one of those rare occasions where cheap is actually fancy. The quality is amazing. It did so well through the airports, and TSA, and all the many miles of walking I did. I’m headed to another country in the fall so will update in the future if anything changes, but so far I definitely recommend it. I mean, if I don’t regret this purchase, then I doubt you will either!
